Bouncy Castle Annual Inspection - What is it?
It is important that all bouncy castles and inflatables that are used commercially are tested on an annual basis, also known as an annual inspection. This is to ensure that the inflatable is still fit for purpose and safe for use. Without a valid annual test it is highly likely that any public liability insurance would be void.
Can I get all of my hire items PIPA tested?
There is actually no such thing as a 'pipa test' so to speak, bouncy castles and inflatables need to be annually tested in accordance with BS EN 14960:2019 and the PIPA database is open to items such as bouncy castles, inflatable slides and inflatable obstacle courses and providing that this category of inflatable passes the annual test they can be issued with a PIPA tag and recorded on the PIPA database.
Which one should you choose PIPA test or an In House Certificate?
Well that is entirely up to you, however the PIPA database is only able to record bouncy castles, inflatable slides & inflatable obstacle courses which means that although other items such as gladiator duels, bungee runs, whack-a-moles, inflatable ball bits and others are required to have an annual inspection by a competent person, they are unable to go on the PIPA system and therefore an in-house certificate is issued, showing that the item has undergone an annual test by a competent person. Whether you choose PIPA or an In House Test in regards to bouncy castle testing is up to you, the important thing is that you get your bouncy castles tested along with all your other items.
Does that mean I cannot get a PIPA certificate for my gladiator duel or bungee run?
Yes, the PIPA database is only open to bouncy castles, inflatable slides and inflatable obstacle courses.
So what type of test does my gladiator duel, bungee run or other inflatable (that is covered under BS EN 14960:2019) need?
Well it goes through exactly the same test as any bouncy castle that is registered with PIPA, the only difference is that you do not get a PIPA certificate, instead you get an in-house certificate to provide proof that your item has been tested on an annual basis by a competent person.
Do I really need to get my bouncy castles and inflatables tested?
Yes, absolutely. Annual testing is in place to ensure the safety of users first and foremost. Inflatable operators need to carry out a routine check whenever they set up a bouncy castle or inflatable for use, but this needs to be done as well as annual testing, not instead of. Public liability Insurance will also be voided in the vast majority of cases if you cannot provide prove that the inflatable been annually tested.
How much do you charge for testing?
That completely depends on what is being tested and whether you will be bringing the item to us or if we need to travel to you and also how many items you have that need to be tested, we also offer day rates and travel all over England so please get in touch for a custom quote.
What about the training?
We are also able to offer training and an examination for the RPII Operators Course. Upon successful completion of the practical and theory exams in which a 70% pass rate is required, you will receive a certificate and ID badge from the RPII showing that you have take the operators course and successfully passed, and you will be listed on the RPII Operators Database for a period of 3 years, after which you will need to re-take the course/exam if you wish to continue to be a registered operator.
